Our Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the nation regarding CORONA VIRUS outbreak and asked for our help to fight against this CORONA VIRUS and throw it out of our country. He informed about the efforts that Indian government is taking to cope up with this virus.
PM has urged his citizens to follow 2 things - Resolve & Restrain.
He has called for a 'JANTA CURFEW' on March 22 [Sunday] from 7AM - 9 PM which means curfew imposed by the people on themselves .Its his request that no one would go out of there homes from 7 AM - 9 PM. ''If possible, please call at least 10 people everyday & tell them about the 'JANTA CURFEW' as well as the measures to prevent coronavirus,'' the prime minister appealed.
“Our this effort on March 22 will be a symbol of our restraint and following our duty in the interest of the nation. The success of Janta Curfew, its experience will prepare us for future challenges,” said PM Modi.
He also said that every person should try and phone 10 other people to inform them of Janta Curfew and ways to protect oneself from coronavirus.
Seeking one more cooperation, the Prime Minister asked people to express their gratitude to lakhs of people working at airports, hospitals and performing duties related to transportation and sanitation during the coronavirus outbreak.
“I want that on March 22, we express our gratitude to them. At 5 pm on Sunday, we should stand on doors, balconies, windows of our homes and express our gratitude for five minutes,” he said, adding that people can do so by clapping or ringing bells.
The Janta Curfew announcement was widely hailed by the people. Many Bollywood actors made a fervent appeal to their fans to heed the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Even the Opposition Congress welcomed the announcement, and said it will support the initiative. “I welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to solidarity at this challenging time. Will support “Janta Curfew” while conscious that Sunday is the easiest day to try it. Need more reinforcement of social distancing (incl suspending Parliament) and specific economic relief measures,” Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said on Twitter.
“Some countries are there that have taken needed decisions and have kept their people isolated," Modi said adding anyone who thinks that COVID-19 could not affect India were wrong. “Two things are needed in this situation," Modi said adding that these were “determination and patience."
To curb the spread of coronavirus, “130 crore Indians have to become determined. They have say they fulfil our duty fully, obey the directions of the state and central government. They have to say we will take steps to prevent getting infected and will protect others from getting infected."
“If we are healthy the world is healthy," Modi said adding social distancing was key given that there was no vaccine as yet to stop the disease.
“I appeal that in the coming few weeks only those who really have to, step out (of their homes). As much as possible, work and do business from home," he said. He urged those between 60-65 years and older to not leave their homes.
